Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP) has crash tested the new Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e, with both models achieving a full 5-star rating for ‘Adult and Child Occupant Protection’. The special thing is that the XEV 9e, which is bigger in size, also achieved the same top rating. What’s more, the ‘Adult Occupant Protection’ scores of both the SUVs are the highest ever given by Bharat NCAP.
Bharat NCAP tested the top-spec Pack Three variant of the Mahindra BE 6, which packs a 79kWh battery pack. According to the report, the same rating applies to the smaller 59kWh variants as well.
Mahindra BE 6 has scored 31.97 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection. This is the second highest score after the XEV 9e.
According to the report, the protection level given to the head, neck and chest area of the driver and passenger is ‘Good’. However, the BE 6 scored slightly lower than the XEV 9e in terms of driver knee protection, where it received an ‘Adequate’ rating.
In the side movable deformable barrier test, it scored a full 16 out of 16.
It received an ‘Ok’ rating in the side impact pole test and also met the requirements of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) test.
In the ‘Child Occupant Protection’ category, Mahindra BE 6 scored 45 out of 49 points. It scored 24/24 in the dynamic test, 12/12 in the CRS installation test and 9/13 in the vehicle assessment test.
Mahindra BE 6 has features like six airbags, rear camera, parking sensors, tire pressure monitor and driver fatigue detection system.
Apart from this, it has seatbelt reminder for all seats, manual airbag cutoff switch and ISOFIX mounts on the rear seats. Its higher variants also get Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree camera and seven airbags.
