Delhi Election: Delhi’s election campaign material business remained cold even in the midst of electoral heat, what are the big reasons?

At one time, buyers of other states in Delhi used to come to buy campaigning material during a large scale election. But now even during the Delhi Assembly elections, there has been a tota of buyers for publicity material traders. According to traders, the business of campaigning material in Delhi is now dying. This time in the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, the sale of publicity material is the lowest. The reason for this is the emphasis on free promises in elections this time. To promote these promises, political parties themselves are printing posters of publicity material etc. This time, despite the Congress contesting elections from the power of the Congress and the total number of candidates in Delhi, the business material business is disappointed due to the exile. Traders say that this business is continuously decreasing due to changing ways of election campaign. Now political parties are giving more emphasis on digital promotion than flags, banners and posters. Social media also hurt the business of traditional election campaign material. Traders have started focusing on religious propaganda material flags, banners etc. amidst the declining trades of publicity materials.

Half of the expectation is not even a business of publicity material

Delhi’s Sadar Bazar is a major center of election campaign material business. Guru Pratap Singh, who is handling the business of his ancestral publicity material in this market, says that Sadar Bazar has also seen such a time when candidates of major parties themselves come to order promotional materials and a huge crowd of buyers at publicity material shops Used to be But at this time business promotional materials are craving for buyers. This time in the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, 40 percent of the sales have not been done compared to the last election. There was a good sale in the Lok Sabha elections compared to the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections. A election material businessman from Sadar Bazar said that only 30 lakh rupees of publicity material is sold, while the sale should have been 70 to 80 lakh rupees. Saurabh Gupta, the major election campaign of Sadar Bazar, Saurabh Gupta said that this time even half of the expectation has not been done in the election.

Why did the business happen

Guru Pratap Singh says that earlier there was an emphasis of flags, banners, patka, badges, posters etc. in the election campaign. But now more emphasis is being laid on social media and digital publicity. Posters cannot be installed in Delhi. Flags and banners are also buying less candidates. The emphasis of party and candidates is more on digital publicity. They have phone numbers of voters. Therefore, especially this time, Delhi Legislative Assembly elections are called through an agency and appealing to voters to vote.

Gupta said that since the Delhi elections started, not a single day would have gone to the Delhi people to vote in the name of candidates and big leaders of the party to vote 4 to 5 times in the name of the big leaders of the party in the day. Have not come In this Vidhan Sabha elections, the three major parties have made free promises including financial assistance to women. In such a situation, calls are also coming to ask for votes in his name. Singh says that the parties have already given themselves to the candidates by printing the promotional material. But this time she is giving too much.

The emphasis of candidates and parties is more on distributing pamphlets of free promises instead of flags, banners, badges, cutouts, which they are making themselves. Sadar Bazar businessman Mukesh Kumar Jain started the business of campaigning material for the first time. But this time he felt disappointed. They say that very few orders have been received and the stock that is left, it also seems difficult to get out. Election -campaign material businessman Mahendra Arora said that there was no expected of so low sales.

Traders are also trying to insist on the political parties on printing publicity materials. Singh said that now the flags are sold less, the emphasis of the candidates remains on the face of himself and the important leaders of the party. Now the election is more focused. Therefore, there is more emphasis on digital printing material, in which the leader’s face is clearly visible. These materials include flag, patka, kiring, silicone band etc. Gupta said that elections in Delhi are being held in winter. Therefore, some orders have also been found of winter hudi, muffler, kanpatti.

Businesses are now making distance from this dull business

It is not that the business of election campaign material is suddenly decreasing. It started 10 years in advance. Guru Pratap Singh says that 15 to 20 major businessmen of election campaign material were 15 to 20 major businessmen in Sadar Bazar 15 years ago. Now their number has come down from 5 to 7. Apart from major traders, the total number of small businessmen used to reach 60 to 70. Now this number will not be 20 in the market. Gulshan Arora has been doing business of election material in Sadar Bazar for years. He says that this time I also asked for a lot of goods, he did not even sell it. If this is the case, then this business will have to leave. Singh says that not only the businessmen are trying to suffer due to the declining business of publicity material, but the hands of the workers associated with this work are also empty.

The raw material of promotional material in Delhi comes from Surat in Gujarat, Mathura in UP and Hyderabad. But their sewing work is done in Delhi. Which gives employment to the sewing. This time a total of 699 candidates are contesting in Delhi. The limit to spend the Legislative Assembly election candidate in Delhi is Rs 40 lakh. The number of candidates of the three major parties contesting firmly is 210. Traders say that earlier a candidate used to spend 8 to 10 lakh rupees on campaigning material in the election. According to this, there has been a business of 15 to 20 crores from these candidates. But this time it is difficult to get a business of 5 to 7 crore rupees.

In addition to the prominent candidates, a business of one to two crore rupees has also been received from independents and other candidates. The margin has also been affected due to the weakening of the business of publicity material. Singh said that now the flag of 10 rupees is sold even for Rs 11, it is a big deal, whereas earlier it was also sold for 15 rupees.

Businessmen are changing strategies

If the businessmen of Sadar Bazar started suffering from election campaign business, they have started changing the strategy. Now these businessmen are also focusing on selling religious materials. Singh said that after the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, the demand for religious material related to Lord Ram has increased. At the time of Bhoomi Pujan of Ram temple, there was so much demand for flags, banners, posters etc. written that Jai Shri Ram was not able to fulfill them. Their demand has decreased significantly compared to that time. But still the demand remains. In the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, flags are being purchased by BJP candidates and supporters written by Jai Shri Ram.

After the rise of Azad Samaj Party, the demand for Jai Bhima’s flag and badge is also increasing. Arora said that the business of election campaign material is done at the time of elections. But the demand for religious publicity material is a little correct, but there is a possibility of persistence at all times.
