Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced plans to invest US $ 8.3 billion, or about Rs 72 thousand crore, in cloud infrastructure in the AWS Asia-Pacific (Mumbai) region in Maharashtra to increase cloud computing capacity in India. This investment is part of AWS’s larger planned investment of US$12.7 billion (Rs 1 lakh 10 thousand crore) for India by 2030, which was announced in May 2023.
“AWS plans to invest $8.3 billion in cloud infrastructure across the AWS Asia-Pacific (Mumbai) region in Maharashtra to further expand cloud computing capacity in India,” Amazon’s cloud computing unit said in a press release. Announced his plan.
It is estimated that this investment will contribute US $ 15.3 billion to India’s gross domestic product (GDP). The local data center supply chain will create more than 81,300 full-time jobs annually by 2030. AWS has invested more than US$3.7 billion in cloud infrastructure in Maharashtra between 2016 and 2019.
