Desi AI model will get force from abroad

(AI) The government will soon start contact with the global network of AI and machine learning (ML) experts to guide the companies selected to develop basic models and startups. A senior government official gave this information.

The said officer said that the aim of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is to add mentor with experts of top AI companies to join the initial stage of creating a structure for basic models.

The official said, “We will start contacting AI researchers, academics and experts of major universities and companies around the world this week. After selecting companies working on basic models, our plan is to connect them with the upcoming advisors.

Another official said that these advisors will also help the selected companies to design and develop basic models as per the demand of the market and will also help create models to fit the right equipment.

The official said, “A lot of initial work is likely to be of academic nature and it will require a lot of training, research and development. When we have a trained labor force on basic things, we will start work on compilation and training of models on dataset.

Work on AI basic model will be done under India AI Mission of Rs 10,372 crore. Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on January 30 that with at least 6 startups, it is talking about developing several half -models in various fields.

Vaishnav also said that the government has been working with experts from the Large Language Model (LLM) and Small Language Model (SLM) for the last 18 months to prepare the framework of India’s basic AI model.

This is not the first time the government has associated the global network of high skill talent. In the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has proposed a new estimated taxation system for overseas Indians providing services to electronics manufacturing companies working in India.

Senior government officials told business standard that this would help domestic companies to attract top global talents easily.
