In January, the two -wheeler (2W) vehicle market performed mixed with mixed. Some companies saw an increase in sales and some looked in sales of the company. The domestic sales of companies making leading two -wheelers like Royal Enfield, TVS Motor and Suzuki Motorcycle increased domestic sales compared to January 2024. At the same time, this month remained dull for Hero Motocorp and Bajaj Auto.

Companies are getting different results based on their inventory, discounts and sales strategies. While companies like Royal Enfield are gradually increasing, companies like Bajaj are recently facing decline, ”
The Royal Enfield recorded a 15 percent year-on-year increase in domestic sales, which was 70,556 units in January 2024 and increased to 81,052 units in January 2025. The company’s exports almost doubled, which increased by 79 percent to 10,080 units, compared to 5,631 units last year. Hunter 350, launched in August 2022, has so far sold 500,000 units, leading to an increase in the mid-size motorcycle segment.
Recovery from December 2024, TVS Motor recorded a 10 percent increase in January. The company had 293,860 units, which was 268,233 units in January 2024. TVS’s motorcycle sales rose by 12 percent to 155,611 units, while scooter sales increased by 29 percent. Electric vehicles (EV) sales increased by 55 percent and it was 25,195 units. At the same time, exports also increased by 52 percent to 93,811 units.
Similarly, the domestic sales of Suzuki Motorcycle India increased from 80,511 units in January 2024 to 87,834 units in January 2025, which is a 9 percent increase. The company’s exports also increased by 38 percent to 21,087 units.
Bajaj sales fell
Bajaj Auto domestic sales fell 11 percent. The company sold 193,350 units in January 2024, while in January 2025 it declined to 171,299 units. However, the company’s exports increased by 37 percent and increased from 114,898 units to 157,114 units.
Hero MotoCorp’s domestic sales declined by 2.03 percent. The company sold 420,934 units in January 2024, which declined to 412,378 units in January 2025. However, Hero MotoCorp’s exports rose by 140.7 percent to 30,495 units, as compared to 12,664 units in January last year.
According to data from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers – SIAM, the total two -wheelers (motorcycles, scooters and mopeds) between January to December 2024 were 19,543,093 units, which compared the same period of 2023. The percentage is higher.
