5 year -old blueprint of ethanol mixture!

After the target of setting up 20 % ethanol mixed (EBP) in petrol by the year 2025-26, the central government plans to set a wide outline for this ambitious program for the next five years. Many officers gave information about this. The supply for ethanol is from November to October.
He informed that under the scheme, a committee of petroleum and natural gas, road transport and highway, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Food and Public Distribution Department and NITI Aayog has already been constituted, which submitted its report till March. Can

One officer said, ‘Five meetings of the committee have already been held and two-three meetings are expected to be held this month. After consulting the viability of further goals, we will submit the report to the government by March. Another official said that the committee has not yet come out with the target of mixing ethanol in petrol for the next five years as counseling is going on. However, another officer said that the target of adding 25 percent ethanol in petrol for the next 5 years can be set. Adhikari said that India’s final goal is to achieve E11 (fully ethanol) and India is also talking to Brazil for technical advice to move forward on the scheme.

For information about this, emails were sent to the spokespersons of the concerned ministries and departments and the oil marketing companies, but the reply did not come till the news was written. NITI Aayog is expected to require about 1,016 crore liters of ethanol to add petrol by 2025-26 as per the outline of the ethanol mixture by NITI Aayog.

The demand for energy in India is also increasing due to growing economy, increasing population, urbanization and changing lifestyle and ethanol has an important role in meeting this need.

As of March 2024, about 98 percent of fuel used in the road transport sector was fossil fuels while bio fuel like ethanol was only 2 per cent. The government had targeted to mix 20 per cent fuel (E20) in petrol by 2030 under the EBP program with the aim to compete with energy security, climate change and promote rural economy. But later the subsequences of this goal were reduced to 2025.

By the end of January, the total mixing capacity was 17.4 per cent, which was 18.8 per cent in the end of December. But according to government officials and industry partners, its average is currently 16 per cent.

One officer said, ‘It will take about one and a half years to reach the E20 target. By the end of October this year, we will achieve the target of 18 per cent mixture and it will reach 20 per cent by the next ethanol supply year. The target of adding ethanol to petrol for the next 5 years from 2026-27 can be increased to 25 per cent. Was a million liters. According to the Aadhikars, till December last year, the ethanol mix program helped the oil marketing companies to save the foreign currency equal to about Rs 1.13 lakh crore and the consumption of crude oil decreased by 1.93 million tonnes.
